The Mystery of Bouvet Island
Often people like to use the expression, ‘in the middle of nowhere’ to describe a location that is hard to reach or not near anything of significance. While there are a few places in the world that easily meet this definition, one place that is so remote and so isolated that it’s never been inhabited by humans is the small Bouvet Island. The word desolation barely begins to describe this small island yet Bouvet Island holds a mystery that has haunted researchers to this very day.

Teleportation Events
Last week we looked at the phenomenon known as teleportation, the instantaneous moving from one location to another by means of an unknown force. From the first known usage of teleportation in Science Fiction writing, to its popularization in the Star Trek television series, to discussions as to how teleportation could actually happen, last week I covered the broader points of the mystery. Haunted Highways
We’ve all heard the urban legend; a boy is driving along on a dark and stormy night. Perhaps there is a layer of fog that is decreasing the visibility. As the boy drives along he happens to spot a beautiful girl in a fancy dress, standing cold and alone on the road. The boy stops, offering the girl a ride and a chance to get out of the elements. As they drive along, the girl is quiet, upset over something. The boy tries to get a name or any information but she’s very tight lipped. At a stop the girl gets out, next to a cemetery. Later that evening, the boy will hear a story about a girl that was killed on that road, hit by a car as she waited for her prom date to pick her up. The boy will see a picture of her and realize that it was the girl he’d just given a ride to.

Ancient Flying Machines
Almost everyone is familiar with the Wright Brothers. Orville and Wilbur Wright were avid aviation pioneers who are credited with making the first, controlled, sustained, heavier-than-air human powered flight on December 17th, 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Could their discoveries and successes been merely a rediscovering of technologies that the ancients knew about long before we did? Is there any evidence to suggest that early humans developed the technologies needed to fly? Amazingly, there is more evidence to suggest that the ancients of the past knew more than we give them credit for. From paintings, to written accounts, to models of planes, the past is ripe with evidence that suggested that early civilization had at least a partial knowledge of flight.
