Beginning the Writing Process
There’s no one way that’s right or wrong for writing a book. Everyone’s style is going to be different and as you progress in your writing career your style will most likely change. You’ll learn things along the way, develop new habits, and change your process to keep things moving. A fast paced action novel is written very differently than a romance novel, which is also very different than an economic book. No one style will work for all genera’s of literature. What I’m going to discuss here is general guidelines that can help you get started. You need to discover the style that works for you.

Why Do We Write?
The first question that I always ask someone who wants to be a writer is why? Why do you want to write? There are many answers to this question, none of them right or wrong, by the way. This is something that you have to explore within yourself. If you can’t quickly and easily answer this question, why you want to write, then writing isn’t going to be for you. When you know why you want to write, the writing becomes so much easier.

Voices from Beyond
Throughout recorded history there have been cases reported of strange noises, music, and voices where the source cannot be located. Many times, in earlier days, the people reporting the phenomena were almost instantly reported as lunatics or mad-men who would be committed for their safety and the safety of those around them. Whether through the guise of a religious experience or something that occurred during the ordinary course of a day, people kept hearing voices, music, and other strange noises.

The Mystery of Bouvet Island
Often people like to use the expression, ‘in the middle of nowhere’ to describe a location that is hard to reach or not near anything of significance. While there are a few places in the world that easily meet this definition, one place that is so remote and so isolated that it’s never been inhabited by humans is the small Bouvet Island. The word desolation barely begins to describe this small island yet Bouvet Island holds a mystery that has haunted researchers to this very day.

Teleportation Events
Last week we looked at the phenomenon known as teleportation, the instantaneous moving from one location to another by means of an unknown force. From the first known usage of teleportation in Science Fiction writing, to its popularization in the Star Trek television series, to discussions as to how teleportation could actually happen, last week I covered the broader points of the mystery. Teleportation is the act of making a person or object disappear from one location and having it reappear in a completely different location. Teleportation has been a favorite devise of Science Fiction writers for years, making a huge impact in the Star Trek television series.
