What To Write
2015 is already shaping up to be an exciting year. Only February and I have two novels at the editors, two more fully written and in the stages of being polished up, and another that’s gotten a good start. It seems like every week that goes by the notebook that I keep to write ideas for novels, short stories, songs, poems, and screenplays is getting fuller and fuller. Just in the last weekend alone I wrote out three new story ideas that could be used as standalone novels and I worked out a few key storyline points for larger works. I’m full of great ideas for writing…except when it comes to blogging.
The most exciting part of this year isn’t the fact that I’m going to get six more books to the publishers and available for sale on my website, it’s that we are going to start advertising on a number of different mediums to promote the books and the website. Nothing brings an author more pleasure than to hear that people are enjoying the words that they write, and to get the books in front of an audience, marketing is key. In the modern world of marketing, blogging is an important part of the marketing process.
Blogging is a great way to keep in touch with the public at large in a quick and easy format. A writer can convey their thoughts, let people know about new projects, or ask for help and receive almost immediate feedback. Once a blog has been built up to a good sized audience, the blogger has a platform for getting ideas across to a large group of people.
Within my marketing strategy I plan on blogging my thoughts and projects that are ongoing within the world of www.leifericksonwriting.com The only problem is that I never know what to blog about and that most of my free time is spent working on my novels. With lofty and high goals set for myself I cannot afford to take the time to work on side projects but it’s the side projects that will sell the main projects. It’s the classic problem of only having so many hours in a day and trying to get everything done at once.
As the year moves forwards it’s only going to get busier. Once spring rolls around my main job really picks up and there is little time for much else. This summer is packed with so many weddings and events that the wife and I are having to decide which ones we are going to and which ones we are going to have to skip. Fall is another busy season at work and then we are back to where we started; winter hoping to have time to write more blogs.
I’ll find a way around it, and I have some creative ideas for what’s coming next in these blogs. I may shift to my favorite subject; business and economics, using the blog to lay the groundwork for a series of books on how anyone can have real success and create the life they want to live. It’s a subject that I’ve been passionate about for my entire life and I want to share what I’ve learned with others. So stay tuned and check out
