As a science fiction author, I spend most of my time bouncing between writing new projects, revising older ones, and occasionally yelling at my computer when a character refuses to behave (they’re fictional, but somehow still disobedient).

While knee-deep in research for a completely unrelated story—something about rogue A.I., a malfunctioning space elevator, and possibly time-traveling cats—I stumbled across a headline that made me do a full double-take:

“Scans Reveal Massive Unknown Structures Beneath the Egyptian Pyramids.”

Now, I was supposed to be looking up orbital decay math, but come on—how is any sci-fi writer supposed to resist that? Secret chambers? No writing? Mysterious voids in one of the most studied places on Earth? That’s not just a news blurb—that’s the opening scene of an ancient alien thriller, a lost civilization epic, or a multi-part conspiracy saga involving cosmic geometry and maybe a hidden key buried under Cairo.

So naturally, I dropped everything and wrote a piece about it. Because sometimes the best ideas come from the real world refusing to behave normally.
