I have always had a fascination with magic. Ever since I was little, I have sought out and watched magic shows on television, and attended live magic shows. There’s just something about that perfectly executed trick, that stunning reveal that blows you away no matter how much you expected that it was going to happen, that I keep coming back to magic again and again. I’ve always tried to avoid any show that blatantly gave away how the tricks were performed, instead trying to figure them out on my own. And with my love of magic, and a love of writing, I blended the two to create a murder mystery novel that will have you guessing until the very end.

When I started creating the concepts for my latest novel, ‘Magic Eyes’ I was going off of two thoughts; a murder mystery investigation that causes a person to question some of the things they thought they knew about their parents and family, and a magician who seems to know something about an old crime investigation and won’t openly tell people what he knows. From there, I developed the storyline and created a full-length murder mystery novel.

Being a fiction novel, I was able to push the magic to the limits. While most magicians are constrained by time and budgets, I didn’t need to worry about those things as I crafted a grand illusion that would rivet the people involved to the very core. A trick that the world would be talking about for years to come. Something that would go down in the history of magic. Tying the magic in with the old murder mystery added a dimension to the trick that could never be experienced in any standard magic show. ‘Magic Eyes’ was two years in the making from the first draft until publishing, and turned out better than I could have expected.
