The Future Waits for No Man
It’s hard to believe that were about halfway through the summer already. Time is just flying by this year. With the successful launch of the next book in my Dimensions series and planning for another book launch soon, my writing keeps me as busy as I can handle.
But there was something that happened this summer that was decades in the making. I’ve spoken about my DJ service before, and how I still take bookings, but am selective as it’s more a hobby than a career now. I played my first dance 27 years ago and from when I started, there was always one dance I wanted to play at. It’s a town festival in a nearby town and the dance is held right on the main street.
When I started my DJ service all those years ago, I talked to the people who booked the dance, got some business cards out, but I never got to play it. Of all things, this year, when I haven’t advertised or pushed for bookings for years, the group that sponsors the dance reached out to me and booked me for it.

We had perfect weather for the Friday night dance. The crowd was electric, and the night went smooth. I had a great time and the event had positive reviews all around. It’s funny to think how time works. In all honesty, I’d written this event off years ago. I didn’t think I’d ever get to play it, but, out of the blue, I get the call for it and I had a blast playing for the event. I don’t know if I’ll ever play for it again, but, at least I got to be there once, and it was worth the wait.
The picture is from the end of the night, once the crowd had left and I was getting ready to take down. As of now, I don’t have anything booked until later in the fall. That’s fine though as my kids, writing, hiking, and work will fill the rest of my time. Keep a lookout for a new project that I’ll have coming out soon and, in the meantime, I look at some recent news stories that could have some implications for future science fiction novels. Thank you.
