Beginning the Process – Part II
A question I hear a lot from people who are trying to get started writing is how to find the time to write. Our lives are so busy the way it is and often there isn’t enough hours in the day to get done everything we want so how are we supposed to add something else in there? This goes back to why you write. If there is a passion there for writing, you’ll make or find the time to start. If you believe in your story and characters, you’ll figure out how to get them onto paper.

Why Do We Write?
The first question that I always ask someone who wants to be a writer is why? Why do you want to write? There are many answers to this question, none of them right or wrong, by the way. This is something that you have to explore within yourself. If you can’t quickly and easily answer this question, why you want to write, then writing isn’t going to be for you. When you know why you want to write, the writing becomes so much easier.

Voices from Beyond
Throughout recorded history there have been cases reported of strange noises, music, and voices where the source cannot be located. Many times, in earlier days, the people reporting the phenomena were almost instantly reported as lunatics or mad-men who would be committed for their safety and the safety of those around them. Whether through the guise of a religious experience or something that occurred during the ordinary course of a day, people kept hearing voices, music, and other strange noises.

The De-Extinction of the Wooly Mammoth
This isn’t a dinosaur park but a serious discussion about what scientists are now planning. As a story teller and science fiction writer, the idea of bringing an extinct species back is a truly exciting concept. In 1990, the novel, Jurassic Park was released, followed in 1993 by the movie, telling the story of a park that genetically engineered dinosaurs. The subsequent interest in cloning and de-extinction took on a fever pitch fueled by a compelling story. The hurdles that would need to be overcome are immense, but there are scientists who are up to the task. Currently, there is serious discussion into the attempting to bring the wooly mammoth back to life. Is it truly possible or nothing but science fiction dreaming? Follow along as we take a look how scientists believe they will bring back the extinct wooly mammoth.

SS Ourang Medan
In June of 1947, a distress signal in the Strait of Malacca came from the Dutch Merchant Ship, the SS Ourang Medan. The Morse code message went as follows: “…we float. All officers including the Captain, dead in chartroom and on the bridge. Probably whole crew dead…” Following a confused series of dots and dashes, two chilling words were understood, “I die.” There was nothing more. No more communications with the doomed ship.
