5 Reading Tools
When it comes to reading accessories, there are a plethora of options. In the days before e-readers and tablets, these accessories primarily consisted of bookmarks and magnifying glasses. Today, the options are wide and assorted.
Avid readers have likely encountered a few book and e-reader accessories that were total flops. For whatever reason, the design was not as functional as advertised or after a few uses the item was deemed useless. To help my fans avoid unnecessary purchases and just jump straight to the best products, here’s the Leif Erickson list of five favorite reading tools.
1. Bed Lounge Reading Pillow
Body posture is often one of the last things in our minds while pursuing romance, adventure, mystery, or thrills through the pages of a novel. However, many readers discover the discomfort the next day. As our bodies age, the posture of our back, neck, and limbs becomes more and more important. Solve this issue now with the BedLounge reading pillow support.
The features on this deluxe lounge pillow really standout. Nearly everything about this product is adjustable! Rotate the arms in several directions to accommodate varying body sizes or lounging positions. Easily adjust the height of the neck support by extending or lowering several inches. Even the back support angle can be changed depending on your preference for an upright or nearly laying down pose.
2. Handmade Docking Station
Adding a touch of handmade elegance to your home or office decor, this handy E-reader docking station is a great tool. The wood on this version has a light and natural finish, but stained options are available as well. The hand carved look of this piece gives a nice charming feeling when reaching for the tablet device. In a way, it puts reading on the spotlight as part of your home decor.
This particular handmade station seems to be just the right size for the most popular E-Readers. It can hold an iPad, Kindle, Nook, or other similarly sized tablet. The nice thing about this block is that the craftsman has thoughtfully provided a space for the charging cord to enter from the bottom. This not only conceals the cord and helps tidy the countertop, but it keeps the cord from falling behind the furniture when not in use!
3. Fintie Kindle Voyager Cover
This Fintie Kindle cover is made to fit the newest Kindle model, the Voyager. The faux leather looks and feels authentic, and gives the sensation of holding a real leather book. With the new Voyager version of Kindle, this cover makes it easy to power off and on with just a simple flip of the cover. Literally, to turn on the device just open the cover! This cover holds the tablet very snugly and still provides easy access for plug-ins.
4. Prism Glasses
Prism Glasses offer a serious benefit to bed readers — no more neck pain! Instead of trying to find a balance between comfort and proper reading angle, these glasses allow me to be completely flat and still read a book. The prism in each lens is angled so that the book pages on your lap can be seen while lying down. Although the BedLounge pillow from above is superb, sometimes we need or want to lay down. They’re also great for traveling and reading on airplanes. The Prism glasses can be worn over prescription glasses too, for those who need them.
5. Lap Book Pillow
This pillow style tablet holder by LapGear is essential for anyone who enjoys reading. The diversity of locations where a lap pillow like this is useful are numerous. Use this pillow book holder while in bed, on the couch, relaxing by the fire, or resting outdoors in a lounge chair.
There are a few competing designs for a similar accessory, however this one offers a few advantages. First, it is among the least expensive. Truthfully, when it comes to buying a small pillow that will be used only to hold a book or tablet, how much should be spent? In this case, the answer is about $15. The next major advantage of this pillow is the simple, unfussy design. The rounded triangular shape, stuffed with bean-bag foam beads, is just the right size to place in your lap. The slim pocket along the front edge securely holds your device, magazine or conventional book. There are few bells and whistles to this design, but it works perfectly well for its intended purpose.
These modern reading devices have provided comfort and convenience to contemporary readers around the globe. These favorite tools are affordable and will surely be used over and over as my reading list regularly grows. Which of these items have helped you the most in your reading adventures?
