Tesla Sisters
Continuing with my blogs focusing on the ‘Ghost Town’ novel series, this blog will look at the two sisters in the book, Michelle and Madison Tesla. Both of these women play big roles within the series, staying with the story from start to finish. Both women are strong and intense, determined and active with a feminine side that they try to keep hidden.
Michelle Tesla has graduated high school but never went to college, choosing to stay home and farm with her mother Donna. Michelle took a liking to the farm, particularly the animals, and finds great pleasure in working the land. Michelle has dedicated herself to learning the ins and outs of farming, becoming a very successful farmer. Michelle’s main ambition is to run the farm, live off the land, and have a simple, rural life.
Michelle, however, is a woman who has needs and desires and is looking for love, a very challenging task in a small community where most of the men are either taken or spend more time at the bar drinking than they do at home. The last place Michelle thought she would find love was with one of the hired men, but when Ethan Drew arrives, there’s an instant spark of attraction. Michelle moves the relationship along very quickly, not wanting any other women in the community to discover Ethan’s single and a very attractive man.
Michelle cares deeply for her family and when one of her sister’s friends goes missing, it affects Michelle as much as it does Madison. Michelle only wants her sister to be happy and successful but with the disappearances around Whiterock, Michelle is afraid for her sister too. Michelle is her sister’s protector, even though Madison doesn’t need anyone to look out for her.
As Michelle and Ethan’s relationship grows, Michelle learns the true reason that Ethan has come to Whiterock. Desperate not to lose him, Michelle agrees to help in the investigations. Together, Michelle and Ethan investigate the area around Whiterock and the mysterious New Church that’s hidden deep within the forests. As more people go missing, more mysteries turn up, Ethan and Michelle’s love grows. Michelle will do anything to keep her farm peaceful and to keep Ethan there while Ethan is determined to solve the case.
Madison Tesla is a spunky tomboy who’s discovering that she’s turning into a woman even though by her age, she’s still a kid. Trapped in that awkward place between childhood and adulthood, Madison is thrown in the middle of the investigation when rumors of a fight between her and the first person to go missing surface.
Known around the countryside as a scrapper, never backing down from a fight, Madison is questioned by police but released when her on again, off again boyfriend vouched for her whereabouts on the night of the disappearance. Cleared for the moment, Madison and her mother Donna cannot seem to see eye to eye, causing massive problems within the home. Madison is bursting to be an adult, testing the limits of what a woman can do, but her mother is intent on keeping her a child, an innocent cute little lady.
Throughout the novel, Madison positions herself as a tomboy, someone tough who hides her emotions and feelings away. She refuses to let people push her around, won’t back down from anyone. Madison’s standoff nature gets her in more trouble that she cares to be in, but as the events in Whiterock play out, Madison finds herself in the center of a global conspiracy. Madison is determined to right the wrongs that have happened to her family and the community of Whiterock, hoping that one day, she can see her sister happily married and running the farm while she still tries to figure out what she wants to do with her life.
